Are OBD trackers compatible with all vehicles?

OBD-II trackers are compatible with most vehicles manufactured after:

  • 1996 for gasoline vehicles sold in the US
  • 2001 for diesel vehicles sold in the US
  • 2001 for gasoline vehicles sold in the EU
  • 2004 for diesel vehicles sold in the EU

Older vehicles may use the OBD-I standard or proprietary systems that aren't compatible with standard OBD-II trackers. Electric vehicles often have a different diagnostic system, though many newer EVs do include OBD-II ports for diagnostic purposes. Always check compatibility before purchasing.
